Global Reporting Initiative Content Index (GRI)

FirstEnergy’s Corporate Responsibility Report was prepared using guidance from the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards. The GRI Standards provide a uniform framework for organizations to voluntarily use in their sustainability reporting. We will continue to provide environmental, social and governance (ESG) information in accordance with GRI’s Core reporting standards.

Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

SASB provides an industry-specific framework that helps companies disclose data on sustainability and ESG topics that matter to their investors and provide them with decision-useful information. FirstEnergy is proud to publish its first SASB report and plans to continue to refine and update annually.

ESG Data Tables

As a demonstration of our commitment to corporate responsibility and transparency on ESG issues, we have developed a data table composed of metrics that are commonly requested by rating and ranking organizations.

Strategic Plan

FirstEnergy’s Strategic Plan, “Energized by Possibility,” articulates the company's vision for the next five years. It includes the company’s approach to the rapid changes in the electric utility industry fueled by evolving customer expectations, emerging technologies and a lower-carbon economy.

Climate Report

On April 1, 2019, we published a Climate Report that includes analysis of a 2-degree Celsius global climate scenario and discussion of our strategies to mitigate risks and realize opportunities in a potential, future low-carbon economy.

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Template

FirstEnergy participates in an EEI-led initiative to provide the investment community with more uniformity and consistency in ESG reporting. The EEI template includes quantitative and qualitative ESG and sustainability information in a measurable and consistent format to help investors and customers accurately assess our long-term progress.
